Join us on 10th October to show young people that how they feel matters, and help us create a future where all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.
What are we going to do?
- Raising Awareness – We will be handing out leaflets for YoungMinds and other mental health and wellbeing charities to raise awareness of the support that is available to everyone when they are feeling lonely, isolated or just need a chat.
- Yellow Clothing – We will be wearing yellow on Monday to show young people that how they feel matters.
- Bake Sale – The Friends of Mount Pleasant, Heavitree & South Lawn will all be holding a bake sale of yummy cakes on the day to fundraise for the #HelloYellow campaign.
- Donations – If you would like to support our fundraising campaign by making a small donation then your money will:
help young people share their mental health experiences, which will reach thousands more young people to give them hope at this difficult time.
ensure a helpline volunteer is on the end of the phone to provide information and support to distressed parents.
give a parent or carer a 50 minute telephone call with a qualified mental health front line worker who can provide clinical advice and guidance.
Why are we wearing yellow?
This World Mental Health Day, we’re wearing yellow to show young people that how they feel matters. More young people than ever are seeking help with their mental health, but many don’t receive the help they need. We can’t let young people face these challenges alone. They have to know that how they feel matters and they deserve to feel supported.
#HelloYellow exists to make this happen. By wearing yellow and raising money for YoungMinds, we can create real change – change in government, change to support, and change to the lives of young people who need it.
The more people who wear yellow, and show they care, the more comfortable young people will feel about talking to someone if they’re struggling. Together, we can create a brighter future for young people to make sure they get the support they need with their mental health.
Where to find advice and support
How you feel matters and you deserve to feel supported. If you’re worried about how you’re feeling, speak to an adult you trust. You are not alone and support is available.
If you want to understand more about looking after your mental health, YoungMinds has practical tips from young people, advice on feeling and conditions, as well as information on getting the support you need.
