You can contact the health centre in more than one way. You can either fill out an eConsult on our website here or you can call the health centre on 01392 255722
Please bear in mind that our phone lines are often busy and filling out an eConsult is usually a faster way of contacting the health centre. For a visual guide on how to contact Mount Pleasant Health Centre, please click on the image below.
eConsult
The health centre will adopt an eConsult first approach. The eConsult service is a way to contact your GP practice online by filling out a form, giving our receptionists a lot of the information they need in order to provide you with the best care possible. Your eConsult will be actioned and you may be sign posted to a more appropriate service or clinician.
Calling the Health Centre
You will still be able to call the health centre and speak to a receptionist regarding a query. If you need help with a new or existing problem, you will be triaged in a similar way to filling out an eConsult.
If you need to order repeat prescriptions, the quickest way for a request to be processed is via the NHS app.
Emergency Care
The advice on emergency care will stay the same:
- For all life-threatening emergencies call 999
- For non-emergency medical treatment or advice call 111
Home Visits
Home visits may only be requested if you are unable to attend the Health Centre for your appointment, and your address is inside our catchment area. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think your medical condition requires a visit and they will also decide how urgently you need a visit. You may be visited at home by a Community Nurse if you are referred by your GP.
Get Help From Your Local Pharmacy
Pharmacists are highly trained healthcare professionals who can give advice and recommend treatment for many common conditions, often without you needing to see a GP.
Pharmacists can answer your questions on prescription and over-the-counter medicines. All Pharmacies provide the following services:
- dispensing of NHS prescriptions
- access to the repeat prescription service (with agreement from your GP)
- an emergency supply of medicine, subject to the decision of the Pharmacist (you may need to pay for an emergency supply)
- non-prescription medicines like Paracetamol
- disposal of unwanted or out-of-date medicines
- advice on treating minor health concerns and healthy living
Pharmacy First
Many pharmacies also offer Pharmacy First, which means they can provide prescription medicines for certain conditions without you needing to book a GP appointment.
Conditions covered by Pharmacy First
Pharmacists can provide treatment (including prescription medicine where appropriate) for:
- Impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
- Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
- Earache (children and young people aged 1 to 17 years)
- Sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
- Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs) (women aged 16 to 64 years)
- Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
If you are outside these age ranges, a pharmacist can still provide advice and recommend over-the-counter treatments. However, you may need to see a GP for prescription treatment.
What happens at the pharmacy?
If you visit a pharmacy with one of the conditions listed above, the pharmacist will:
- Assess your symptoms
- Offer advice and treatment
- Provide prescription medicine if appropriate
- Refer you to a GP or another healthcare professional if needed
They will update your GP health record after your consultation. Your information will remain confidential and will not be shared with anyone else.
Before you visit
Most pharmacies offer this service, but it’s a good idea to contact them first to make sure they can provide treatment for your condition.
