Dr Clare Clarey Retiring

“After 31 years as a GP Partner, I will be retiring at the end of May this year.

It has been a privilege to get to know so many patients over this time and to share in both happy and sometimes difficult times. I am pleased to be leaving patients in the capable hands of my colleagues and Dr James Finn. Dr Finn has been working with us as a Maternity Cover GP for the last year and has proved extremely popular with staff and patients. He will be a great asset to the practice.

I have loved my time in general practice and hope to have encouraged doctors in training to follow a career in primary care. Several of my trainees are now partners at Mount Pleasant and I am delighted that my daughter has just started GP training in Bristol.

I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful and inspiring colleagues over the years and we have a very special mutually supportive team at Mount Pleasant which I will miss immensely. This has been a very difficult year for us all and we have worked hard to keep staff and patients safe whilst continuing to offer as near a normal service as possible. We are now facing the additional logistical challenge of playing our part in the successful Covid vaccination programme.

My work has been a very important part of my life, but I am looking forward to a rest, to an opportunity to spend more time with family and friends, to keep active, to explore new interests and hopefully to have some freedom to travel and explore in our camper van.”
