This week marks Carers Week 2026, a national awareness campaign dedicated to recognising the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers across the UK.
Every day, millions of people provide care and support to a family member, friend, or neighbour who is living with illness, disability, mental health challenges, or age-related conditions. Their dedication helps loved ones maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life, often while balancing work, education, and their own family responsibilities.
At Mount Pleasant Health Centre, we are proud to join communities across the country in celebrating carers and highlighting the challenges they face. Caring can be rewarding, but it can also bring emotional, physical, and financial pressures. Many carers do not identify themselves as carers and may miss out on the support, advice, and services available to them.
Carers Week provides an important opportunity to:
- Raise awareness of the vital role carers play in society
- Recognise and celebrate carers’ contributions
- Encourage carers to seek support when they need it
- Highlight the importance of carers’ health, wellbeing, and financial security
- Advocate for greater understanding and recognition of carers’ needs
Throughout the week, we encourage everyone to take a moment to acknowledge the carers in their lives and communities. Whether through a simple thank you, offering practical support, or helping carers access available services, small actions can make a meaningful difference.
If you are caring for someone and would like information, advice, or support, please get in touch with our team. We are here to help you access the resources and assistance you need.
To all carers: thank you for the compassion, commitment, and resilience you show every day. Your contribution is invaluable, and Carers Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate everything you do.
Happy Carers Week 2026.
